Sichuan 23 days, 21st May to 12th June 2016 – 330 species
Andy Marshall, Guy Kirwan, Mike Coverdale, Pete Shepherd, Graham Speight

Although 2016 gave no Rufous-headed Robin for any birders, and, because of rain and landslide, were denied access to Przewalski’s Parrotbill site, this trip logged up an impressive 330 species.

Highlights
Game birds – 12 species seen. Some great views of a male Temminck’s Tragopan, and we got a male Golden Pheasant to show very nicely by using playback. All the usual suspects – Monal, the Eared Pheasants, Lady A, Snowcock, Snow Partridge and Chinese Grouse all performed with flying colours.

Per David’s Owl –heard at two sites, it took three goes, and a 03.00 start, before we finally got good views of this bird

Tawny Fish Owl – adults and 2 young Tangjiahe

Crested Ibis –  Yangxian, Shaanxi

Wood Snipe - I'm pretty sure these guys were among the very few birders that managed to see a 2016 Wood Snipe at Balang.

Black-winged Kite – not a usual tick on Sichuan lists. Xichang area

Sichuan Jay – seen 3 sites

Sichuan Forest Thrush - Balang

Zappey’s Flycatcher – 2 sites, Tangjiahe and Pingwu

Blackthroat – Wolong area

Blue-fronted Robin – fairly easy at Hailuogou

Dollar Bird – just north of Tangjiahe

Yunnan Nuthatch – south of Xichang

Sichuan Treecreeper - Hailuogou

Silver-throated Tit – big flock – 100+ in Moxi area

Crested Finchbill – not a usual tick for Sichuan, Xichang area

Grey-sided Bush Warbler – fairly easy Emei

Chestnut-crowned Bush Warbler – Wolong area

Streaked Barwing - Hailuogou

Rufous-vented Yuhina – not usual on Sichuan lists. Fairly common Moxi

Brown-winged Parrotbill - Xichang

Grey-hooded Parrotbill – new site south of Wawu

Przewalski’s Finch – fairly easy to find Ruoergai
